The Carnival Splendor cruise ship is in a dry-dock in San Francisco to repair the damage from the engine room fire from last November [link]. San Francisco is the only city on the west coast with a dry-dock big enough to accomodate this huge ship.
This big ship is so close, that I could get this interesting detail shot. All these cabins lined up with the small balconies kind of remind me of sardines in a can…
Pier 64 saw better times. The adjacent land will become a park with access to the water. This will be great. In the meantime, we have to live with the fences that block the view. Thanks to the low tide, I was able to get this picture without having a fence in the middle.
Now there is an art installation at pier 64: I call it “Invasion of the astronauts… ” for lack of a better name. I haven’t found any references to the artist(s) who did this installation.
