Please have a look at the search help on how to refine your search term(s).
Photo Search Help
Search accepts required and omitted terms, and defaults to “OR” behavior. “OR” behavior means that a search for “california bridge” would return all hits for either “california” OR “bridge”.
To require a term, use “+” (plus); following term would ensure that only images of bridges in California are found:
+california bridge
To omit a term, use “-” (minus); this would return all images from bridges outside of California:
bridge -california
To search a string of words as if it were a single term, wrap it in either single or double quotation marks:
"San Francisco"
To require or omit a string of words, add the “+” or “-” sign within the quotes:
bridge "+San Francisco"

Since 2011, I review my images at the end of the year and select my favorites. I try to balance them so that they do not all show star trails or be from the same location. This year’s selection contains pictures from Seattle, Mongolia, Paris, Oregon, San Francisco, Death Valley, Bodie and the California coast. […]
There are a few images that didn’t make the cut for the Favorites post from a few days ago. But I wanted to share them with you as well since they really are close to my heart.
It is this time of the year where one revisits the past 12 months. For me, among others, this means reviewing some of the 13,000 images I took during the year and select my favorites. Let me tell you that’s not an easy task! Already during the year, I pre select candidates. But at the end, […]
An ongoing project I have is to capture moving bodies of water using long-time exposure. That image series is called waterscapes. While visiting the Sichuan province in China a few months ago, we stopped along a river to take a break. It was a great spot with a decent amount of water flowing over and […]
Capitola is a small coastal town east of Santa Cruz, California, at the northern end of the Monterey Bay. Usually if you are on the pacific coast, you see the setting sun over the ocean. But the Capitola beach faces south east and not west. This means sun sets behind you. Lately we have one […]
Last year for Thanksgiving weekend, we made a trip to Portland, Oregon. While we barely stopped on the way there, we took the longer but very scenic coastal road on the way back to California. Our last stop before the border was in Bandon, where we enjoyed a gorgeous sunset. The timing was almost perfect. […]
This post is part of my America’s Cup in San Francisco blog post series. I was on my way back to the America’s Cup base at pier 30-32 when I stopped at the Marina Greens to take a picture of France’s Energy Team’s boat that was berthing there. I am still a bit puzzled that they left their […]
This picture was taken 15 minutes after sunset while the horizon was still glowing. The three rocks in the middle of the Pacific caught my attention. I used a long time exposure to smoothen out the rolling waves. When I saw the result, I was pleased how this afternoon at Lands End turned out. Back […]
