Since 2011, I review my images at the end of the year and select my favorites. I try to balance them so that they do not all show star trails or be from the same location. This year’s selection contains pictures from Seattle, Mongolia, Paris, Oregon, San Francisco, Death Valley, Bodie and the California coast. […]

It is this time of the year where one revisits the past 12 months. For me, among others, this means reviewing some of the 13,000 images I took during the year and select my favorites. Let me tell you that’s not an easy task! Already during the year, I pre select candidates. But at the end, […]
Saturday night we met with friends for dinner at one of our favorite sushi places in Half Moon Bay, Sushi Main Street. I had my camera with me so I could capture images of the sunset before going to the restaurant. While walking along the Pacific Coastal Trail, I found this spot with the putting […]
The current incarnation of my website exists due to the power of The Turning Gate‘s (TTG) Lightroom web plugins. One of its features is the open framework that allows extension. In the past I already wrote about how I customized my site using something called phplugins: Vertical Navigation Breadcrumbs But there is one feature that […]
I was very excited yesterday to hang my artwork on the walls of Jolt ‘n Bolt café in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood. This is a place I regularly visit and it will be even better now to have a coffee or a sandwich while looking at my images. Installation was very easy. Jolt ‘n Bolt […]

It really looked mystic and I had to take some pictures before having dinner. Right next to the hotel were several […]
This post is part of my Mongolia blog post series. The following pictures were taken at sunrise in the Khongoryn Els sand dunes, from a slightly different location than the previous night (link). The dunes were a little bit smaller so it was easier to climb them. Once at the top, the view was magnificent, beautiful lines of […]
This post is part of my Mongolia blog post series. One of the highlights of this Mongolia trip for me was visiting the Khongoryn Els sand dunes in the Gobi desert. The Gobi desert is vast. It is more a steppe than a sand desert, where you find grassland, thorny bushes, gravel plains, buttes, rocky canyons and sand dunes. […]
This was the first time ever I saw a solar eclipse in nature. Okay, it was ‘only’ an annular eclipse, but it was beautiful and a great experience. Around us was a big crowd and when the moon moved over the sun and only a circle of light (aka fire ring) was visible, everyone burst […]
I captured this sunset the other day at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. I was shifting my PC-E lens horizontally while taking this long time exposure. This added additional emphasis on the glowing horizon and vertical gradient while hiding some of the dirt in the sand.
