Not long ago, San Francisco was basking in orange (link) to celebrate the championship of the SF Giants, our baseball team. Now American Football gets all the attention where the SF 49ers are in the postseason. If they win their next game, they will play the Super Bowl in New Orleans!
Although the relationship between the city and the 49ers is a bit strained since the football team decided to build their new stadium in the suburbs, SF City Hall shines in red and gold. This is a view from the Civic Center plaza through an alley of bare trees.
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know I like the view from the opposite side as well, with the Herbst Theatre on the left and the War Memorial Opera House on the right.
Other buildings in San Francisco are sporting the 49ers colors too. This is a view from pier 14 that I really enjoy, as you get to see the skyline up close. Click on the image to see it bigger.
Coit Tower on top of Telegraph Hill unmistakably stands out. This is again seen from pier 14 with the Ferry Building and the Coit Tower both shining red.
Walking around the city right now, it is difficult to miss the glowing Coit Tower. It even outshines Saints Peter and Paul church in North Beach and the Bay Bridge.
Two days after new moon, I went out to photograph the Coit Tower together with the crescent moon. This was a planned shot and I am very happy I was able to capture it as pre-visualized. To top it off, it was a cloudless night sky.
Go 49ers!
