This was a very busy year and I clearly didn’t spend enough time blogging about my different photographic adventures. My photo catalog tells me, that I took more than 15,000 images. Wow! Although I lacked posting many of the new images, I did catalog them. This made it much easier to select my 10 favorite […]
More than a year ago, I started to look into the process of mounting images on wood panels. The initial results were promising, but didn’t completely satisfy me. In the last few months, I refined the different steps from sealing the wood panels to mounting the images and varnishing them for UV protection. I am […]
The Open Studios season in San Francisco is about to start. This Thursday is the kick-off with the ArtLaunch Party at SOMArts where over 400 artists have one of their pieces on display. It is a great way to get an overview and to meet many artists. This year I’ll be showing during two weekends: […]
Tonight I got a chance to see the rehearsal of the upcoming Illuminate and Obscura Digital light show on the Conservatory of Flowers. This is another project started by Ben Davis, the man behind The Bay Lights. While I was there, technician fine-tuned the lights, colors and patterns. This will be a cool show and […]
La Patrouille de France is the French equivalent of the Blue Angels. Currently they are on a US tour with their Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jets and an accompanying Airbus A400M. They criss-cross Northern America and had a Golden Gate Bridge flyby here in San Francisco, something I couldn’t miss. The Alpha Jets flew all over the […]

There are a few images that didn’t make the cut for the Favorites post from a few days ago. But I wanted to share them with you as well since they really are close to my heart.
It is this time of the year where one revisits the past 12 months. For me, among others, this means reviewing some of the 13,000 images I took during the year and select my favorites. Let me tell you that’s not an easy task! Already during the year, I pre select candidates. But at the end, […]
I am working on the selection of my favorite images of 2016. But there are some that don’t really fit into in with my regular images. So I put them in a separate gallery. The camera doesn’t always need to show what our eyes see. Sometimes moving the camera creates interesting patterns. The images shown […]
It happens often that there are a few clouds hanging around Bernal Heights during the afternoon and disappearing right before sunset. But tonight the clouds stayed and it was nice to see them illuminated by the setting sun. And thank you to all the neighbours that were on the hill enjoying the scenery. It is cool to see their […]
Instead of sitting in front on my computer and waiting for the results of today’s election, I went to the Palace of Fine Arts to have fun with my camera. Had a good time. But now back, I have trouble finding words…. Hope you enjoy the photos without additional comments! […]
I spent last weekend in the Eastern Sierra enjoying fall colors. It was a very delightful, although windy and cold, trip. Late Sunday afternoon, while I stopped at the gas station in Lee Vining, a few snowflakes started falling down. A storm system was moving into the Sierra. Since I didn’t want to cross 120 during a […]
It has been two years since I first tried to make greeting cards. Due to time limitations, I abandoned this plan after a few failed attempts. Then a few weeks ago I got a customer request for San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge greeting cards. So I pulled out my card stock and gave it another […]
I spent some time today with a friend who wanted to learn more about solid and graduated neutral density filters. After some theory lessons, we went to the beach to practice. While my focus was not on taking pictures, I ended up with some keepers and a new project idea: Calmness Calmness is the mental […]
A few weeks ago, I spent a weekend in Yosemite. It was yet another reminder how fast the weather can change. At 6pm the sun was shining, at 7pm it rained and at 8pm, the clouds parted for a beautiful sunset. For that sunset, I went to Olmsted Point since it provides nice views in different […]
This is another one of these techie posts. But I have one image for you too. I shot it recently on a trip to Mendocino. More image related posts are coming soon! I am in the process of migrating my site over to The Turning Gate’s Backlight toolset. Currently, one important feature is missing: slideshows. […]
